Junior Mechanical Designer


  • Prepare concepts and complete design packages.
  • Investigate alternative design methods and improve existing methods
  • Prepare and present internal and external design reviews.
  • Assist in developing design and department standards.
  • Design and detail parts and assemblies related to rehab products (wheelchairs)
  • Assist in implementing or achieving corporate and department objectives (i.e. new developments, policies, etc.).
  • Lead the mechanical design effort on various projects
  • Manage documentation, including quotes, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc..
  • Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to Senior Manager
  • Provide assistance during the manufacture of parts, bench and floor assembly, debug and integration.
  • Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, pressure, force, etc. as related to mechanical designs
  • Experience in tubular structure design, sheet metal designs and machined component design
  • Drafts working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, subassemblies or product, using Solidworks.
  • Determines tools, fixtures and equipment to be used in fabrication and assembly of components and complete assemblies.
  • Examines project instructions and drawings to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment and problems involved in designing, changing or rearranging materials.
  • Liaises with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff.
  • Liaises with vendors for technical information and specifications.


  • Solidworks experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Mechanical Designer
  • University degree, P.Eng would be an asset or College Diploma, C.E.T. would be an asset, or working towards engineering designation.
