Research and Development Chemist

Performs professional, entry level analysis, testing, and formulation of new products.  Responsibilities may include independent formulation of shorter term projects or sub-sets of longer term, higher profile projects.  Generally works with minimal supervision and has a basic understanding of a smaller range of products lines and application techniques.  May oversee work of laboratory technicians, but typically does not have direct supervision.

Responsibilities:
• Performs analysis, tests, and development of new formulas or raw materials
• Accurately report detailed project processes, results, and conclusions
• Update project database as required by Technical Manager
• Support the Quality department as needed for formula/complaint investigations
• Oversee the scale-up of new formulas
• Prioritizes daily assignments to meet goals and objectives set by the Technical Manager
• Compose lab notebook entries per SOP
• Maintain a Safe Working Environment

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
• BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related science field

Additional Consideration Given To Those With
• Prior formulation experience in related discipline
• Advanced Degree
• Knowledge of Epoxy
• Knowledge of Methyl Methacrylate (MMA)

Experience/ Required Training
• At least 5 years formulating experience
• Basic understanding of laboratory standards and chemical hygiene
